Famalies work together to prepare the fishing nets before the fishermen set out at sea. Belo sur Mer, Madagascar. 18 October 2022.

Fishing and aquaculture provide a lifeline to over 1.5 million people in Madagascar, particularly those living in coastal areas who are often the most disadvantaged and marginalized. For many of these individuals, fishing is their only source of income as they lack other resources such as land that would allow them to generate additional revenue streams.
